We are seeking an Executive Director of Finance, Accounting, and Compliance to join our rapidly growing team. The Opportunity: The Executive Director position leads our entire Finance and Accounting division, utilizing an extensive knowledge base and years of experience to help our team provide the best USC experience. You will manage all aspects of our operation, from budgeting and marketing to employee relations and hiring. Your people management and communication skills will be vital to ensuring that we remain happy, productive, and successful. We will depend on you to help us exude Trojan spirit! The Accountabilities: Directs multiple financial services departments. Directs other managers in short and long term planning, setting of goals and strategies, development of departmental policies and procedures, regulatory interpretations and interface, and ongoing evaluation of operational effectiveness. Develops and administers budgets in conjunction with subordinate managers. Monitors fiscal performance to plan and looks for variances of trends. Approves major expenditures and budget adjustments, as authorized. Maintains responsibility for the fiscal integrity of all financial reporting and operations. Directs the preparation and distribution of financial reports. Meets with managers on a regular basis for status reports and to assist with policy, procedural, or regulatory interpretation and problem resolution. Develops strategic plans and objectives for the Finance & Accounting team. Develops and maintains fiscally responsible budgets to support the business units’ strategic goals. Directs, designs and implements policies and procedures which result in increased performance, are properly integrated with the business units, comply with federal and state regulatory requirements and align with University policy. Identifies, tracks, measures, and analyzes data to highlight problems, prevent losses, contain costs, and direct the development of process improvement. Develops and manages pro forma projections of financials, including headcount, operational and capital expenditures and revenue modeling in collaboration with all Auxiliary Services units and Controllers. Writes, develops, implements and refines programs and policies to ensure that all Auxiliary Services business units remain in compliance with all applicable regulatory, internal control and NCAA policies and requirements. Identifies, tests and remedies any potential weaknesses in controls or compliance through random audits, testing and reporting out to the VP, Auxiliary Services, and to applicable university staff. Assesses touch points between Auxiliary Services staff and USC student-athletes, their families and any other individuals who may be involved in NCAA-related activities. Ensures that these touch points follow NCAA rules and report on any violations of written procedures. Creates and maintains appropriate records for audits, and track timelines and steps taken to remediate any control or compliance weaknesses. Directly or indirectly supervises all staff assigned to divisions, usually through subordinate managers and assistant managers. Determines staffing needs based on goals and objectives of divisions. Determines and/or recommends divisions’ salary administration including raises, promotions and reclassifications. Approves/disapproves all work guidance actions within divisions. Develops and implements policies, procedures, short- and long-term strategic plans to enhance operations for division. Develops, implements and administers plans for effective communications programs within divisions. Maintains currency with, understands and ensures divisions ‘compliance with all university and departmental policies and procedures and with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. Provides customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers. Meets customer needs, offers options, resolves problems and follows up with customers. Ensures full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customer to other staff members. Maintains friendly, helpful demeanor. Establishes and maintains appropriate network of professional contacts. Maintains currency with professional organizations and publications. Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, etc. Represents university and/or divisions as assigned or as appropriate. Oversees the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan Process and Emergency Response Program for all Auxiliary Services business units. Develops and implements security related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals and key controls. Coordinates security activities with university Public Safety Department. Promotes and maintains standards for security conscious awareness and behavior. Maintains knowledge of university’s crime prevention and suppression programs and services. Ensures dissemination of security related information to staff. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. The Qualifiers: Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Experience: 5 years. Expertise: General industry or University management level experience in Auxiliary Services areas such as Housing, Bookstore, Dining, Transportation, Hospitality strongly preferred. Budget development and management experience. Knowledge of marketing, public relations, and program management strategies. Demonstrated customer service and communication skills. Experience managing, training, coaching, counseling, and hiring employees. Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
