Data Management - Journey
Permanent, Full Time
 Information Technology division provides services to all other divisions in the office, which includes external customers for some divisions. The Elections applications development team is a unit within Information Technology that operates independently from, but in close coordination with, all other sections of the IT division.

The Data Management/Journey position is responsible for the overall health, functionality, and availability of the office-managed databases in their charge. This is a Journey level position that reports to the Elections Division Solutions Architect (Application Development/Senior). This position is responsible for database design, documentation, analysis and administration for all office-managed databases. Additionally, the Data Management/Journey will work closely with the OSOS Security Operations Center (SOC) to develop and maintain, manage and secure data stores and backups, in order to ensure security and compliance with county, state and federal laws.

Manages multiple, mission-critical, database systems
Tasks include:

Maintains, manages, and enhances statewide Elections, Corporations, and Charities SQL databases Conducts daily performance monitoring and optimization, including both query and server optimization to ensure high levels of performance and reliability Provides recommendations and strategies to developers on how to improve performance and scalability of their database components Configures and maintains SQL Availability Groups Ensures successful data replication between systems Plans for database growth and space requirements Consults with information technology staff regarding business rules, data integrity, location, and use of data Coordinates and communicates with external vendors Creates and supports processing environments (development, test, quality assurance, and production) Requests disk space, develops database scripts, and prepares data for loading
Ensures high availability of SQL Server systems
Tasks include: Monitors and ensures daily database backups Defines, implements and regularly verifies on-site backup/recovery procedures and schedules Develops and regularly tests recovery procedures for High Availability, Failover and Disaster Recovery sites
Continuously improves database performance and reliability
Tasks include: Performs data analysis Documents database architecture, configuration settings, baseline performance metrics and planned and unplanned outages Performs scheduled maintenance and support Reviews project data models for compliance
Tasks include: Subject matter expert for staff, vendor(s), and customers to assist in troubleshooting database issues Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Four (4) years of information technology experience such as: consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications; providing customer or technical support in information technology disciplines
(At least two years' experience independently working on a system or project for a large workgroup or single business function in an SQL environment) Efficiently use a personal computer and applicable software to successfully perform the essential functions of the position Ability to read and write the English language Desired Qualifications Experience configuring, implementing and supporting large highly available SQL Server environments; ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues; query, index and DB I/O performance tuning; review Stored Procedures Experience in design, development, and maintenance of web environment Experience in object oriented programming theory and principles Experience in Application development for preserving and providing access to electronic records that includes data backup, versioning, storing and retrieving data Experience developing and maintaining system documentation including requirements and design documents Knowledge of SQL Availability Groups Knowledge of SQL Replication Knowledge of failover between geographically redundant data centers
